Want a Korat
kitten but out at work all day? Here's our suggestion...
It's never a
good idea to take a kitten if you and your partner are out at work
all day - the kitten will be lonely and unhappy. Having a full
time job doesn't mean you can't have cats, though. We recommend
either two kittens (litter mates are ideal), or a kitten and a
rescue.
This is where
we might be able to help. We've rescued and re-homed non-pedigrees
(and occasionally pedigrees) for eight years, some with very
touching stories. Take Willie, who was locked in a council house
with ten other cats and kittens and left to starve when his
druggie owners did a moonlight flit. Fortunately, a good samaritan
had been watching the house, and broke in. We took Willie
immediately. Despite his experience, he grew to become a very
loving cat. Today, Willie is a long term resident of our cattery.
Then there's
Feather and Tico, who were brought to our house when their old
lady owner collapsed and died suddenly. None of her relatives
wanted the cats, so we took them in for eighteen months... until
we found appropriate human slaves to cater for their every whim!
If you decide
to take one of our adult rescues with your kitten, there is no
extra charge. Your rescue will be fully innoculated, neutered, and
will have spent enough time with your kitten to already be a real
buddy. As a result, when the feline friends leave our cattery for
your home, you'll have a pair who will help each other settle in,
and keep each other company while you're at work. Occasionally,
our retired breeding queens may come up for re-homing if they are
unhappy as pets in our multi-cat household. We recommend that all
kittens and rescue cats be kept as indoor-only pets, as this is
what they have been used to (please see our information on indoor
cats). If you are interested in taking a rescue cat (either with
or without a pedigree friend), then please see our 'For Rehoming'
section.

I'm a
drop-dead gorgeous diva... and I know it! I'm a retired breeding
girl with a bit of a problem. I suffer from gingivitis, which is a
swelling of the gums. As a result, mum takes me for a steriod
injection once a month. This keeps the problem at bay, but I
probably won't ever be cured. If you decide to re-home me, this
treatment must continue. Mum will only let me go to the right
home, but since I'm a terrible bully with the other girls (despite
loving the boys!) I would be much happier living somewhere with no
other girl cats. I'm six years old, and you can see my pedigree on
this website. Most amusing habit: nibbling your toes in bed and
burying myself under covers and throws. Just look for a lump under
your covers, and that'll be me! There will be no charge for
re-homing Cally due to her ongoing steriod requirements.
All rescues
are available for re-homing regardless of whether you are taking a
pedigree kitten or not. If you are not taking a pedigree at the
same time, then we ask £35 per rescue cat. This helps with our
vet costs. All rescues
are neutered and innoculated prior to you taking them home.
Neutering pedigree kittens is the new owners' responsibility.

Greetings! I'm
a senior tabby of twelve, and I would love a squashy bed I can
call my own after sharing everything with the rest of these pesky
moggies! I'm low maintenance and love to rub, purr and head-butt
while you're trying to concentrate on your favourite TV show. My
idea of heaven would be to come to your house with a single Korat
kitten for company. Or even on my own, where I can be trusted to
sleep all day while you are out at work. I'm a real little girl,
petite and delicate. Favourite snack: boiled chicken. Star sign:
Pisces. Favourite game: disturbing you while you watch TV, of
course!

Fans tell me I
look like a pedigree Norwegian Forest... and I'm happy to pretend
to be! But I'm really a chocolate moggie of unknown parentage. I
chatter away to my human companions (mum says I squeak) and I love
bounding around after the Korat kittens. I can sometimes play
rough, but that's because I'm a mere babe myself... I'm only 18
months old! Star sign: Aries. Favourite food: I'll steal anything
if you leave it unattended... beware! Favourite sleeping place:
anything soft and warm will do.

Jake
Hi, can't you
tell from my face I'm a real ladies' man? I've lost one of my back
legs (road accident before my current mum rescued me) so I'm a
little wobbly. It's absolutely vital that I have an indoor only
home, for this reason. I adore the pesky little Korat kittens and
I really, really love lady cats too – but equally I'd be at home
with a single owner as a single cat. As a sedate older cat (I'm
eight) who can't cause too much mischief due to my missing leg,
I'll happily sleep all day while you're out at work. Your bed will
do nicely. Or the settee. Or a comfy pad in the corner of the
living room. I'm not fussy. And when you get home, I'll follow you
round the kitchen squeaking with excitement while you cook tea.
So, what do you say?
